Overview:

Before we begin this reporter would like to welcome everyone back from what appears to be an eventful Christmas and New Years. Let us hope that everyone is rested up and ready to continue the Formula 1 championship at the 2011 Formula 1 DHL Turkish Grand Prix. Over the Christmas period there has been a rumour about a possible new team to the world of Formula 1 however so far the FIA has not received any confirmation on the team name or driver, more information as this develops.

What started off as a clean race with Mercedes' Davidson qualifying first, McLaren's Grantham qualifying second and Red Bull Racing's newest driver Crosby qualifying third ended with Mercedes' prodigy Davidson coming a podium first lapping everyone. Davidson reported that he had a interesting race even after his engine blew up in the qualifying session. On the first couple of laps Davidson almost had a run in with Grantham as he took him on the inside of the corner making contact by clipping tires. Davidson and Grantham continued to race heavily for the next couple of laps before Grantham spun out at the start of the straight at turn 10 allowing Davidson to regain position. Davidson kept that position while occasionally struggling with cold prime tires, he managed to keep it solidly on the track and had an incident free race. Davidson was reported to say, "Turkey is one of my best tracks and (I am) happy to come away with a win."

Red Bull's new driver Crosby had a short but eventful race. After having a difficult qualifying session coming third his tires were almost shot. He started his race very well keeping it steady where after a couple of laps coming down the back straight to catch traffic McLaren's Hamilton pulled out while going into the corner. Unfortunately Crosby was unable to react in time and he ran into the tail end of Hamilton's car. Crosby made a early pit stop to replace his wing where he soon lost it again by spinning out and hitting a fence. He again went back to the pits, replaced the front wing and put too much gas into another corner, once again spinning out and damaging his vehicle. He was soon called into the pits where he retired early. It is suspected Red Bull's engineers did not have his car set up correctly.

Toro Rosso's Martin had a reasonably short race after 15 laps his engine blew up due to too much revs and was forced to retire. Here's hoping Martin has better luck next race.

Grantham had a fairly eventful race by having a easy qualifying session and taking first place on the third corner of the first lap. He managed to hold it for a while until he spun out at corner ten on lap 5. He dropped back down to 16th position and fought hard to get it back up. After a couple more incidents where he spun out during the race he managed to catch up to 3rd place fighting furiously with Red Bull's Webber for the position. He eventually took 2nd over Webber, held it for a couple of laps and decided to pit and put his last set of option tires on. The last 10 laps showed to be an entire success for Grantham as he utilised his option tires to easily over take Webber and gain a 47 second gap above Webber before finishing the race with a podium second place.

This was very well run race and this reporter cannot wait to see what happens in the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday 5th February 2011 at 7:30pm. Is McLaren's Grantham starting to show some decent competition towards Mercedes' Davidson? We will find out next race!
